Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 6 ripe bananas 2 eggs, beaten 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Directions

In a large bowl, mash the bananas and blend in the eggs. Stir in the flour. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Drop spoonfuls (2 to 3 inches in diameter) of the batter into the hot oil. Reduce the heat to medium. When bubbles begin to appear, turn and cook the other side until golden brown. Repeat the process until all the batter is used up, keeping the cooked fritters in a warm oven. Serve them with maple syrup or honey.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: 1.0 stars 01/18/2020 Worse ‘Jamaican’ recipe - definitely not Jamaican!! Where are the spices? Nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon etc.? This is a wannabee. I didn’t even try it.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: 3 stars 03/09/2019 I liked the texture unlike most Jamaican fritters, they’re dense due to the amount of bananas. I reduced mine and only added one banana (that’s all I had at home lol). Yes one ! Add more for more flavor and density. I used one egg and added nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla flavoring. Those things are what a true Jamaican fritter is made of. I did add a little milk and condensed milk. And after I drained the grease off I sprinkled a little cinnamon sugar on them.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: 1 stars 07/14/2017 Banana fritters? No! Where is the rest of the recipe? These are not Caribbean fritters. Where is the cinnamon, a little nutmeg, some brown sugar, a little vanilla?

Martha Stewart Member Rating: 1 stars 02/17/2016 DO NOT WASTE YOUR ANYTHING ON THESE. Too gooey. Not even crunchy. Much worse than a pancake. YUCK.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 11/01/2013 These where really - really good! The bananas I used where really sugary and sticky so I could have used more flour. Other than that an awesome taste with minimal ingredients.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5 stars 06/09/2013 These are great. I can never make pancakes look good, but these turned out perfectly, right from the first one. I added 2tsp of good quality unsweetened cocoa powder and they were delish. An instant hit.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 05/30/2012 My four year old loves Bananas. Every day after school he begs for one. My Grandmother used to make these a sweet treat after dinner. I tried make them once and failed horribly. I saw the video and I just made them for the first time tonight. I made a half batch just in case... They came out perfect! Like my Grandmother used too, I added a pinch of pure almond abstract and a bit of confectius sugar to top it off. My four year old and my husband loved it. Thanks Lucinda!
