Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups oat flour
  • 2 1/2 cups quinoa flour
  • 3/4 cup flax meal
  • 1/2 cup frozen, organic, unsweetened blueberries
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 large egg

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with a nonstick baking mat or parchment paper; set aside.

In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients with 1 cup water to form a dough. Roll out mixture between two sheets of plastic wrap to 1/4-inch thick; remove plastic wrap and cut out biscuits with a 3 1/2-inch bone-shaped cookie cutter. Reroll scraps and continue cutting out biscuits.

Space biscuits 1 inch apart on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes until nicely browned and firm.

Transfer biscuits to a wire rack. Turn off oven and place biscuits on wire rack in oven overnight. Remove from oven and store in an airtight container up to 2 weeks.

This is wonderful recipe. You should give your dogs well-balanced healthy food like me. They are members of our family and we need to take care of them. There are lots of tips and healthy dog food recipes in this website. I think you should check this wonderful healthy recipes.

these were very easy to make but i found them to be a little "wet" once the blueberries started thawing out and popping. i had to add more flour as i rolled them out. i will make them again but will thaw and drain the berries first. also, the berries do make the treats a mottled dark color. not a problem, but not exactly pretty.

My dog loved these biscuits and they were easy to make. I substituted whole wheat flour for oat flour and found quinoa flour at my local bulk food store (that way you can get just as much as you need for the recipe). I also used whole flax seeds that I had on hand and ground them in the blender - worked great!

Just wondering if you can substitute fresh berries and also what flours can be substituted if you dont have the 2 above. I have whole wheat flour and dont think I would use the others so I wouldnt necessarily buy it just for this recipe unless there wasnt another substitute. Looking forward to making these for my chihuahuas!
