Using Kirsch is essential. Many other recipes use rum to flambé the cherries. Be not fooled! Martha has the French version of this elegant scrumptious dish. I used 1/3 cup of butter, sugar and Kirsch because I had 5 guests. This is a fantastic July dinner party dessert. Impress your family and friends with fresh cherries and ice cream. Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5 stars 05/29/2013 I didn't have vanilla Ice Cream, so served this with some home made Dark Chocolate Pudding. Great combo. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to, but I covered the pan when cherries when they were cooking to soften them. Turned out quite nice! I would definitely recommend and darken the room when you light them. They glow with a blue flame!
