Cutout Cookie Dough

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled), plus more for work surface
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • Green, red, and yellow food coloring

Directions

Whisk together flour and salt. In a large bowl, using a mixer, beat butter and sugar on medium-high until pale and fluffy, 4 minutes. Beat in eggs, one at a time, then vanilla. Reduce speed to low, add flour mixture, and beat until combined. Tint dough by mixing in food coloring: For trees, tint two-thirds the dough green; tint some of remaining dough red and some yellow; leave some plain. Divide green dough into 2 disks. Individually wrap all dough in plastic and refrigerate 1 hour (or up to 3 days).

This is not a recipe! After I click on the 'get recipe' box,I shouldn't have to go elsewhere to find the recipe. All I get here is a list of ingredients and a very simple, cream, add liquid (eggs), add dry. How do I get the Christmas tree look for the cookies? What oven temperature do I use? How long do I bake them? What should the cookies look like when they are done? Hello? Anybody out there reviewing this website?

I'm sorry but am I the only one who can't see the directions for baking? Can someone tell me how many minutes and how many degrees I have to bake them?

I which there would have been more detail on how the decoration on the tree were created like it was explained on the Today Show. But I love this idea!

Followed directions exactly. Cookies were very pretty but ROCK HARD! Putting them in a tin did not help. I believe that working the dough to get the vibrant color made the dough very tough. Only use would be as ornaments. Very disappointing results for the effort.
