This was really easy to put together but I didn't like the taste of the frosting itself. I found the honey to be bit overpowering, but once I paired it up with the banana cupcake, it was a match made in heaven! I would definitely make this again!

I just made the banana cupcakes with honey-cinnamon cupcakes. I added a 1/4 tsp. of salt to the frosting to make it a little less sweet and they are AWESOME! I've never had banana cupcakes before, and honey-cinnamon frosting is pretty unique, so I'm sure the family will love them.

You can add a small pinch of salt too cut the sweetneww. Adding more liquid will dilute the icing but not really the sweetness and you do risk losing some of the flavor and for cluckidee if you add salt you don't have to go through all the extra steps it sounds like you went through. I didn't add any cinnamon to mine, I added lemon cause I actually made this frosting for ginger cupcakes. They were good although those three flavors together sounds more like a cold remedy than a delicious cupcake

I think a few rules of thumb are necessary for this recipe. Since martha is neurotic (it's ok-we still love her), one should take that into account. Adjust her recipe to make it a little more free-styled.

-add a little milk(or cream) to dilute the sweetness of honey, but retain the pollen-y goodness.
-to compensate for the milk's texture affects, add some cornstarch (or flour if you don't have any)
-be sure to add a lot more cinnamon. I mean a LOT more. As in there's no such thing as too much!

The frosty is too sweet but super easy to whip up. There is no way that this recipe is on the muffins in the picture they have posted above. It has a good flavor, just too sweet.

I made this recipe and found it to be too simple! I had to add a ton more cinnamon to even detect the taste in there. And how do they make it so white, if butter has a yellowish tone to it, and so does honey and cinnamon's BROWN??

haven't tried the frosting or the cupcakes yet, but for those who didn't like it on the banana, how do you think this would taste on a mexican chocolate cupcake. I don't have a recipe for that, but I thought the flavors sounded good together, with mexican chocolate being less sweet but having that underlying cinnamon taste.

Definitely make sure you use the confectioners sugar.. I tried to blend down superfine sugar and the icing came out a mess, but PERFECT if the recipe is followed exactly. And I agree with LRH2 - make sure the butter is very soft.

cream the butter first until it's light and fluffy consistency - 2-3 min on med/high speed. then sift the sugar first and add it in small batches. then add the rest of the ingredients. scrap down the bowl a lot to ensure everything is mixing up. then just keep mixing at high-ish speed for another 1-2 min.

This frosting is very sweet, but also very delicious. I, too, thought it was too much for the banana cupcakes. However, my husband shared them with his co-workers, and they all absolutely raved about the frosting. They asked me to make more and bring the tub of leftover frosting, so I guess it's okay!

Our family thought this frosting was a little too sweet, so I cut back on the honey the second time I tried it. It has a nice delicate flavor, is very easy to make and the cinnamon is a nice touch, but we all still think it's too sweet for these cupcakes. Our family preferred a cream cheese frosting instead.
