Ingredients
Ingredients
- 2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch pieces Coarse salt and ground pepper 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into pieces 1 1/2 cups heavy cream, warmed
Directions
In a large pot, cover potatoes by 2 inches with salted water. Bring to a boil; reduce to a simmer and cook until potatoes are tender, about 12 minutes. Drain thoroughly and pass potatoes through a ricer or food mill into pot.
Over low heat, add butter and stir until melted. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until potatoes are stiff, about 1 minute. Gradually add cream, stirring constantly to combine. Using a rubber spatula, pass potatoes through a fine-mesh sieve. Season with salt and pepper.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5.0 stars 11/27/2019 I love Martha Stewart and every single thing about her. She is my hero and reminds me of my Mother who is also from the east coast. There is a right way to do things and there truly is a place for everything! Anyone not living and doing things Marthas way is doing it wrong! This mashed potato recipie is just as it's called, luxurious and delicious, thank you Martha. Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 11/12/2019 You need to relax, if you dont think it's right for you or your family...Then DONT make them! Use your computer or cell phone and google the FAT content on the ingredients you select to use.. geesh seriously! Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 03/20/2016 I think that adding nutritional information to the recipes would go a long way in helping home cooks to choose the best recipes for them and their families. I don think I wanted be labeled as someone who preaches as in another comment but I think we all deserve to know the the nutritional information of recipes so that we can choose for ourselves which recipes we want to make and serve to our family and friends. I and many other readers have suggested this many time in the last few years. Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5 stars 11/27/2013 Made this for Thanksgiving dinner this year and it's delicious. Simple and elegant. I can't wait to serve it. As far as the caloric load, honestly, who's eating this every day? Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5 stars 11/09/2013 This recipe is one of my favorites. I make it every year during the holidays. I use Jersey whole cream from the nearby dairy farm and farm churned butter. Martha Stewart Member Rating: 1 stars 01/18/2013 Martha should be ashamed of herself for suggesting that people need to make mashed potatoes that have 53 grams of fat and 35 grams of saturated fat PER SERVING, which by the way is 68% and 175% of recommended Daily Values. One can make terrific, satisfying mashed potatos with a couple of pats of butter and low fat milk; I do it regularly. This over-indulgent recipe is why there is an epidemic of heart disease in our Western diet.Martha Stewart Member
