Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5 stars 10/18/2019 This is an excellent simple cocktail. I've used a range of bourbon include Basil's and Woodford. I echo what one person said below regarding cayenne. Do not use it as a garnish, but put a dash into the cocktail shaker prior to shaking. I also garnish with a lemon peel. Trader Joe's Honeycrisp cider works well for this recipe!

The top-off pinch of cayenne resulted in overly burny lips, but I liked the addition of heat enough to just add in a pinch before shaking it up. Also, a little cinnamon (1/4 teaspoon at most) was a nice addition.

It has to be the lemon juice that does the heavy lifting but it doesn't taste lemony at all. Definitely a great fit for our October wedding.
