Ingredients

  • 2 slices white sandwich bread (about 1 ounce each) 1 pound (93 percent lean) ground turkey 2 ounces cheddar cheese, coarsely grated (about 1/2 cup) 1/2 small onion, coarsely grated Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper 1 teaspoon olive oil 12 party-size rolls Lettuce, sliced tomatoes, ketchup, and mustard, for serving (optional)

Directions

In a food processor, pulse bread until fine crumbs form. Transfer to a medium bowl; add turkey, cheese, and onion. Season with salt and pepper, and mix gently just until combined. Form twelve 2-inch patties (about 3 tablespoons each).

In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Cook patties until browned and cooked through, about 5 minutes per side. Serve on rolls with lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, and mustard, if desired.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: 5 stars 02/13/2015 Very good recipe! Made them for a crowd & let everyone chose their toppings; Chipotle Mayo, Pickles, Lettuce, Tomato, & a variety of Mustards. Thumbs up!

Martha Stewart Member Rating: 4 stars 06/21/2013 These were easy and tasty! I made them when a friend came over for wine and cheese (I wanted a more substantial finger food option), and the leftovers also made great breakfast patties.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 01/24/2011 Excellent - flavorful. I made it exactly as recipe is listed, except into 6 burgers. I used Vermont cheddar (best cheddar) and result was delicious. Thanks Everyday Food - your kitchen is so helpful to my kitchen.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 11/18/2008 Yummy!!!! I've never made turkey burgers and was a little hesitant at first. These were super easy and super yummy. Very moist and good flavor. I have never liked onion burgers but these are great. I guess I've never had onion burgers that weren't made with a packet of Lipton onion soup mix...yuck! I served them with bacon and bbq sauce and some more cheddar on top...delicious:)

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 04/20/2008 I actually had 93% lean ground beef and it was so good. These turn out moist and delicious! Shredding the onion is a great tip!

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 04/14/2008 Fabulous! We made this for company with kids and it was a big success. I doubled the recipe and cooked the burgers in the oven with the fries to cut down on steps. Totally yummy!

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 03/07/2008 I love this recipe! It was very easy and tasty! I decided to use whole wheat bread to make the breadcrumbs. I made double use of the food processor and chopped the onions after I made the breadcrumbs. Everybody liked these little burgers!

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 02/24/2008 I shredded the onion in the food processor, and used about a quarter, I then used season salt, pepper, and parsley.... also adding some shredded parmesan cheese. I then formed the patties as directed and used the remaining onion in a preheated skillet to add some extra flavor.

Martha Stewart Member Rating: Unrated 01/23/2008 I tried these out this evening and I must say they were very moist and tasty. Usually when I made turkey burgers before they were always very dry. It was very to make. Big Hit!
