I typically use the Wilton crusting buttercream recipe for everything because it's easy. The Pure frosting blows that one away! It was extraordinarily sweet so next time I might only do 2 lbs instead of 2.5 lbs and see if it still crusts, but my younger sister loved it the way it was (she has a sweet tooth and I do not). This was very decedent, creamy, and smooth. Paired great with the Pure cupcake! I had to make it with soy milk instead of cows milk because that's all I had in the fridge.

Didn't like it, the cake is Not the same texture than the one at sweet revenge not to mention that the icing was way to sweet with way to much butter... My first Martha Stewart recipe flop.

I just made this for my kids to test as their new birthday cake icing ( they don't like whipped or 7 minute frosting). It turned out perfect, and very similar to many grocery store birthday cake icings. We put it on the coconut cupcakes from this site and the combination was delicious! I followed the recipe exactly as written.

reduced the sugar in the frosting by exactly 1/2 and this frosting is now nearly perfect. In combination with the cake, this is my favorite cupcake. unbelievably delicious. unmatched presentation.

As long as it is vegetable shortening; it is pure. The shortening is what allows the icing to remain so white.

I have admired these delicious looking cupcakes and live in too far to try one. I am very disappointed to see they use shortening in their icing. Yuck, thats not what I would call "pure".
