I use 1/2 C of Butter and 1/2 C of Crisco to make this filling instead of the 1 C of butter. It comes out nice and stiff. It isnt runny at all

#1: The 7 min frosting recipe above will NOT taste the same as this filling at all.
#2: This filling recipe is really good, but the cake is way more complicated than it should be. Use the Food Network's website for Paula Deen's Whoopie Pies. You can bake them on a cookie sheet and they turn out perfect. But use THIS filling recipe! Now that's a winner. I wrap each one (if there are any left) in plastic wrap and store in refrigerator. They keep well chilled.

Thanks for the great filling recipe! I didn't care for the filling on the Food Network's website and this is just what I was looking for. A great combination - the two recipes!!!!

I also used a parchment lined rectangle pan (aluminum) cut it in half and made them like finger sandwhiches...they reminded me of Suzy-Q's.

The recipe below appears to be 7 minute frosting. Marshmallow fluff and marshmallow cream are the same thing. Its quite common and can be found in your baking section or with the marshmallows. However, I'm sure you can use the frosting in lieu of the recipe above, it just won't be the same I'm afraid. By the way, the frosting below is great on cupcakes!
